Featured Wines for the week of May 11th, 2013:
Lucky Star Chardonnay, California, 2010 $15.99
Crisp, bright Chardonnay with zero oak. A pleasant buttery nature, but not too over the top. A small amount of Muscat adds a dry, flowery essence to the nose. Doesn’t take itself too seriously; great wine for back-porch sipping.
Les Lauzeraies Rosé, Tavel, Rhône, France, 2011 $22.99
A perennial favorite of our wine buyers! Tavel is a region directly across the Rhône river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Featuring Syrah and Grenache, Tavel is one of the few Rosés that, like a wine buyer, gets better with age.
Bliss Schoolhouse Red, Mendocino, California, NV $19.99
A deft blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot and Syrah provides a fruit-forward, medium-full bodied red wine. Great for warm afternoon grilling with the family, or cool evening recovery from the same.
Flor de Crasto, Douro, Portugal, 2010 $16.99
A serious, dry, food wine featuring Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional, fresh off of their more well-known work as the primary grapes in Porto (which, as it turns out, is also made in the Douro region.)
